This active New Yorker and her dog put off buying new furniture until she bought her own apartment; she wanted her new furnishings to be purchased to fit the space. So when she finally moved into her Upper West Side co-op, she left most of her Texas-sized furniture behind! Modernous was hired for interior design and asked to create a space that was comfortable, modern and fun, and that could be flexible for her infrequent, but cherished, dinner parties.
On a base of Coventry Grey paint by Benjamin Moore, we mixed vintage and repurposed with new pieces to create a warm and modern design. The dining table was a critical find: it collapses to 3’ x 3’ for daily use in the kitchen nook, but can expand to fit 8 people. There is a space in the living room where the table can extend, with additional seating from space-saving folding chairs made for a New Yorker (they fold flat for storage)!
Lighting fixtures were updated and the client’s own collectibles were arranged and displayed on the gorgeous vintage wall unit found in Brooklyn. The armadillo was added as an ironic nod to the client’s time in Austin TX.
