This house in the woods was built about 30 years ago using Sunset Magazine plans from the 60s. The original owners used high quality materials, including teak, but the finishes were beginning to show their age. Modernous was hired as the interior designer to preserve the great feel and original design of the space, while bringing the function and finishes up to date.
New terrazzo tile flooring throughout provided a beautiful bright backdrop for preserving the teak kitchen cabinetry and trim throughout. A custom blue Malm fireplace was installed in the living room, while both bathrooms received a total overhaul. The kitchen was slightly expanded using contrasting grey cabinetry, opening it up to the living room.
Our final touch was working with the owner on new furniture throughout the main floor to complete the space. The new, modern design is right up the client's alley!
